Job Description:
The Data Center Construction - Owner's Representative (DCOR) is responsible for the overall direction, execution and completion of a singular large-scale project or multiple mid-size projects. The DCOR will develop, coordinate, implement, and manage all facets necessary to oversee the construction of projects on time, within budget, and to the quality specified. This role provides leadership and serves as the liaison between project team members to promote the interest of both the business and clients in all matters, as well as demonstrate the characteristics of a leader.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary contact for general contractors, owners, and end users, ensuring critical system reliability and uptime throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee financials, including budgets, purchase orders, subcontracts, invoices, and billings, while ensuring timely updates and accurate reporting.
Facilitate change order pricing, manage documentation, and ensure alignment with project and data center-specific requirements.
Review and process RFIs, identifying risks and implementing recovery action plans when necessary. Intent is to provide the first layer of replies to construction issues and have the knowledge of when to escalate to other project team members.
Coordinate schedules with field teams, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring timely deliveries and efficient workflows.
Ensure compliance with company procedure, and contractual obligations.
Attend project meetings to track progress, manage risks, and communicate updates.
Support design/build projects in collaboration with the design team, ensuring proper execution.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and construction, including white space and cabling infrastructure design. Working knowledge of safety, security, and construction best practices.
General familiarity with the materials and manufacturers related to data center products and various disciplines (Architectural, MEP, LV, BMS, Structural) interact with each other.
Knowledge of specific data center LV systems such as overhead basket tray and supporting trapeze, fiber trough, fiber panels, racks, cabinets, air flow containment, structured cabling, fiber and copper panels, etc. is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret blue-prints, site drawings and diagrams, and all other materials provided.
Working familiarity with related technologies including air flow management, access control, environmental monitoring.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, focused on customer service.
Proficiency with the MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), CAD, Visio, Bluebeam Revu, and Revit.
You must hold a valid driver's license.
Ability to travel 50% of your time.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
3 years managing data center construction jobs or a minimum of 5 years managing critical environment construction.
