Job Description:

The Residential Energy Business Development team at our client is seeking a Sr. Technoeconomics Manager to play a key role in shaping the residential energy strategy across their portfolio: solar, energy storage (Powerwall), and vehicle charging solutions. This position involves analyzing energy markets, developing business models, and supporting leadership in strategic initiatives to accelerate their mission of sustainable energy adoption.

This is a highly dynamic and technical individual contributor (IC) role. It combines detailed financial modeling, energy market research, and creative problem-solving to address complex challenges in the electricity and energy storage industries.

Responsibilities
  • Technoeconomic Modeling: Build and refine models that define the client's customer-facing value propositions for Solar, Solar Roof, and Powerwall.
  • Market Modeling: Develop forward-looking analyses of energy market conditions to guide sales strategies globally.
  • Market Research: Conduct deep dives into wholesale energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and utility tariff structures to inform program economics.
  • Financial Modeling: Create and update financial models to assess project viability using tools such as DCF, IRR, and NPV.
  • Business Model Development: Analyze new geographies, applications, and business models for energy storage, with a focus on creativity and innovative approaches.
  • Market Entry Strategy: Lead the development and execution of new market entry strategies and pilot first-of-their-kind projects.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the optimization, policy, and business development teams to connect the client's residential energy systems across geographies.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 7+ years of electricity industry experience with a strong understanding of energy markets, utility structures, and residential-scale battery storage solutions.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel (including scripting and advanced functions).
  • Strong financial modeling skills (DCF, IRR, NPV).
  • Strategic Thinking: Creative and innovative problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and develop business frameworks for new opportunities.
  • Communication: Strong ability to synthesize complex data and communicate findings effectively to executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Education: Master's or MBA preferred, with a focus on data science, analytics, or energy-related disciplines.
