Korsa Therapeutics is a Biotechnology Startup Company in San Diego focused on generating a novel class of therapeutic antibodies. Current monoclonal antibody drugs only target extracellular surface molecules or secreted proteins. Korsa technology allows for monoclonal antibodies to enter inside the cell and bind intracellular targets (IPAT Ab). Our platform can directly expand the druggable space and unleash the power of monoclonal antibodies on previously undruggable intracellular targets. Role Description
This position is for a Scientist I/Scientist II/Senior Scientist with expertise in protein engineering, DNA cloning, protein engineering, mammalian protein expression and biochemical/cell biology assay development. We seek an innovative and driven scientist with a strong ability to multi-task and thrive in a highly interdisciplinary environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in our R&D group and have a critical impact on the advancement of the company's therapeutics discovery platform. The role will include engineering, cloning and expression of therapeutically relevant proteins, including antigens and antibodies of various subclasses. The responsibilities will fall anywhere between the early idea stage through full development of a clinic ready, therapeutic candidate. Several projects will be executed in parallel, with each being in various stages of the development pipeline, highlighting the necessity of multi-tasking abilities for this position.
Responsibilities: • DNA Cloning • Mammalian protein expression • Building and screening antibody libraries in yeast or phage display systems • Protein characterization • FACS, flow cytometry, ELISA, BLI, SPR, FPLC/HPLC in addition to many others
Required Skills and Experience: • PhD degree in Biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related scientific field with 1-5+ years of relevant laboratory experience in protein engineering, DNA cloning and protein expression • MS degree with 5+ years of protein engineering experience • BS degree with 7+ years of protein engineering experience • Expertise in various protein production platforms, namely mammalian expression systems, with other protein expression system experience also desirable • Experience with non antibody-based protein engineering, such as antigen design and structure based protein engineering • Detail-oriented and capable of identifying and solving scientific problems • Effective and collaborative cross-functional team member in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment • Additional experience in protein conjugation/purification/analytics is a desirable
