This position requires the individual to have knowledge of Outside Plant. Both fiber and copper. Knowledge of Flex Nap F2 Fiber distribution design and or Greenfield MDU F2 Fiber distribution design. They will be responsible for drafting field notes showing details for existing and proposed fiber and copper cabling for all environments. These notes will then be passed along to a designer for a software application. The individual will need to be adapt to conduit layouts, building entrance conduits, riser facilities, aerial utility routes, join-use pole routes, etc.
The candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to properly and accurately measure facility routes; aerial, underground, and buried. While also maintaining accurate notes in regards to what you are measuring/recording/surveying. This person would be engineering's "Eyes in the field". This position best suits someone with a good orientation to detail.
Qualifications:
Physical ability and dexterity. This position would require someone to be physically able to be on their feet for several hours at a time while surveying and fielding. Crossing ditches, walking off-road utility easements, and the occasional steep incline are some possible challenges a field specialist would come across.
Tools; must be familiar with the usage of a height stick, CVT Stick, capture clear Ocalc photos, provide Ocalc data, range finder, measure wheel, Manhole hook, basic hand tools, IQGEO platform, Qgis software, and or KMZ (Google Earth software).
Must have an understanding of state route road systems and their relationship with utilities. You would need to know how to find the width of Right-of-way to best layout proposed facilities in accordance with state entity expectations and rule.
Must be able to decipher engineering work prints. Both telecommunication drawings and state-provided roadway layout drawings.
Self-sufficiency and the ability to work with little or no supervision, while accomplishing the task at hand with expected quality of work and timeliness.
Problem solving, and the ability to identify issues within OSP and communicate them to Engineering for resolution/further investigation.
