Overview: The Structural Steel & Miscellaneous Metals Shop Manager will oversee all aspects of fabrication operations, ensuring efficient production, adherence to safety standards, and delivery of high-quality structural steel and miscellaneous metal components. This leadership role requires managing multiple shifts, optimizing workflows, and leveraging advanced tools and technologies like CNC machinery and Tekla PowerFab. The Shop Manager will mentor team members, maintain equipment, and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabrication Oversight: Supervise all fabrication operations to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 15-20 employees across multiple shifts, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Workflow Optimization: Streamline workflows and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
Technology Utilization: Leverage advanced tools and technologies, including CNC machinery and Tekla PowerFab, to optimize fabrication processes.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all machinery and tools are well-maintained and in proper working condition.
Safety Management: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and standards across all operations.
Shift Management: Initially work a 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM shift, transitioning to an 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM schedule once fully established in the role.
Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments to align shop operations with project schedules and client requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a steel or fabrication shop, preferably in a larger construction company.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing multiple shifts.
Proficiency with advanced fabrication technologies, including CNC machinery and Tekla PowerFab.
Excellent organizational and workflow optimization abilities.
