The Director of Business Affairs is responsible for the talent contracts (SAG and Non-Union), vendor and talent estimates, negotiations, contracts and rights and clearance in partnership with agency legal counsel. The Business Affairs Manager will work with Producers and the Director of Business Affairs on overseeing content production, including broadcast, print, and digital projects across clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Review vendor agreements to ensure compliance with Client SOWs and MSAs.
Trademark searches for proposed branding, taglines, signage, design etc.
Manages intellectual property rights and clearance acquisitions.
Work with the Director of Business Affairs on negotiating with celebrities and over-scale agreements.
Work with Agency legal counsel on issues including contracts, updating releases, contract templates, risk assessment, and indemnifications
Review final estimate and caveats with producer prior to submitting to Client for signature
Create and issue appropriate award documents including production contracts, insurance, licenses, talent agreements, and vendor purchase orders
Participates in project scoping discussions, providing Producers and Client teams with accurate estimates for talent session fees, usage, residuals, and all other talent and music-related costs of production.
Issues talent contracts, session reports, and final casts to payroll vendor(s). Pay session, holding fees, usage, and renegotiations in compliance with SAG/AFTRA/ACTRA and AFofM guidelines.
Evaluate and manage union claims, audits, or reporting requests.
Creates and negotiates music vendor agreements.
Works with Producers to monitor cost actuals through the close of the job.
Work with internal Finance from pre-bill through project completion.
With the Director of Business Affairs, proactively manages all account transition documentation for incoming and exiting clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
Responsible, self-motivated, highly organized individual who learns quickly and communicates well with others.
Ability to juggle multiple projects with tight timelines is required.
A high degree of professionalism with a strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness is a must.
Flexible and able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Ability to follow up effectively and work well under pressure.
Extensive Knowledge of SAG union contracts, to interpret and maintain compliance.
Current computer/software knowledge and a willingness to learn new technologies.
Able to work extended hours when necessary.
7+years of Business Affairs experience at an advertising agency required
