Must Haves
  • California Education Specialist Credential
  • Added Authorization for Autism
  • Bachelor's in Education
  • 1+ years of experience in a school/teaching environment

Plusses
  • Strong history of Developing IEP Goals and plans.
  • Previous experience within Special needs or Early Childhood Education
  • Masters or Doctorate Degree

Job Description/ Day to Day Responsibilities
  • Teaches learning disabled students and develops for each student realistic long and short team goals
  • Assesses the needs of each student in the Resource Program in order to provide appropriate individual programs of instruction
  • Evaluates students who have been referred for possible special education placement
  • Creates and maintains an effective learning environment in which a positive self-image and self-help actives are stressed
  • Arranges with staff for mainstreaming of students into regular classes for the instruction and socialization in areas where students can meet success
  • Provides instruction throughout pullout, push in and/or the collaboration needed
  • Evaluates students' performances, keeps up to date records of individuals students' progress, recommends revision of the IEP
  • Coordinates and consults with administrators, general education teachers, parents, and support staff regarding instructional planning for all students in the school/ Directs instructional aides
  • Integrates the core curriculum program of the school into the resource classroom
  • Participates in IEP meetings
  • Develops IEP goals and objectives
