Performs a full range of laboratory services under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Assistant Director, Director of Laboratory, and Lab Administrator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs clinical testing in compliance with Federal, NYSDOH, CAP, and TJC standards.
Conducts Complete Blood Counts, Coagulation Profiles, Urinalysis, and other manual/automated tests.
Follows Quality Control procedures and performs Preventive Maintenance.
Uses lab information systems for orders, results, and documentation.
Performs phlebotomy and maintains specimen integrity.
Provides technical guidance and assists in training personnel.
Ensures lab safety, participates in education programs, and maintains patient confidentiality.
Orders supplies, troubleshoots equipment, and participates in non-routine testing and research.
Follows guidelines for quality assurance, reports critical values, and documents activities accordingly.
REQUIREMENTS:
Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the NYSED.
In addition to meeting the qualification requirement of Assignment Level II, appointment to Level III requires:
One (1) year of full-time paid experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.
