POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Campus Safety plans, directs, supervises and coordinates campus security, property, student and personnel protection programs.
JOB DUTIES
Designs and implements school security programs, procedures, and activities.
Supervises, instructs, trains, and coordinates the activities of all security officers.
Develops and implements appropriate crisis management plans. Responsible for fire, bus, tornado, and crisis drills, training and related documentation. Works cooperatively with personnel involved in the crisis management plan in academic areas. Train all school personnel in crisis procedures. Ensure that shelter and lockdown areas are marked.
Directs traffic during drop-off and pickup times.
Works directly with local law enforcement agencies during critical incident situations.
Tracks and maintains proper licensing of all security staff.
Serves on the safety and security committee and attends administrative, parent, and board meetings as needed.
Work with school nurses, deans and administrators regarding student drug, alcohol, and theft related issues.
Assists in the recommendation, development, and implementation of improvements to procedures, equipment, and systems to ensure effective operations and best practices in the area of safety and security management.
Communicates effectively for individual and school-wide needs.
Oversee and provide guidance to buiding supervisors and other facilities personnel for emergency procedure drills. Plan and coordinate drills with all instructional and non-instructional facilities to ensure readiness when needed.
Oversee the annual review of the Emergency Operations Plan using data, state and expert guidance, and stakeholder feedback to assess effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
Schedules gates and doors.
Respond to after hours calls regarding the burglary system, fire system, gate issues and reports to campus in order to secure the buildings and facility when needed.
Responsible for Safety vehicle monthly inspections and reports.
Responsible for coordination, staffing and managing the campus Welcome Center.
Research, evaluate, and make recommendations for security systems hardware and software for the School, as necessary; identify requirements and design implementation plans for security systems and Access Control Systems for all new and existing buildings.
Ensure programs are cost-effective and funds are managed wisely.
Maintain confidentiality.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skill in implementing communication and collaboration between and among various areas of an organization to enhance service delivery, program development, and customer satisfaction

Skill in mediation and facilitation of group and/or individual problem resolution

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
High School Diploma or GED
Must have CLEET certification and provide evidence of such yearly.
PREVIOUS RELATED EXPERIENCE
At least 5 years of previous law enforcement experience.
EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE
Working knowledge of law enforcement methods, techniques and procedures.
Working knowledge of Holland Hall organizational policies and procedures, including appropriate compliance with all procedures and policies.
An ability to work with people and perform under stress and when confronted with an emergency situation.
Desire to keep up with current trends in school safety and security
Basic computer skills as well as good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to handle several projects at the same time.
Ability to work with various school and volunteer organizations in a constructive manner.
Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet facility insurance requirements for school vehicle operators.
Regular attendance is required for successful completion of job duties.
Available to travel for sports functions when required.
Available to be on call except on scheduled time off.
Available to respond to campus alarms.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines and time pressures.
Work regularly requires sustained concentration.
Work requires considerable physical effort and manual dexterity.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to walk the campus when needed.
Ability to pass CLEET “Physical Assessment Test” every three years.
Good close, distance, and color vision and depth perception.
Uniform required – Security shirt and docker style pant while on duty.
