About the Role
Our client, a prominent leader in the Property & Casualty insurance space, is currently looking for a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join their team. This role focuses on underwriting large property accounts, with a particular emphasis on risks associated with the energy sector. As a Senior Underwriter, you'll be integral to the company's success, helping to assess complex risks, craft tailored policies, and drive growth within their energy portfolio.
Responsibilities
Underwrite large-scale property insurance submissions, focusing primarily on energy-related exposures and risks.
Collaborate with brokers, clients, and internal teams to obtain necessary information, ensuring a thorough understanding of the risks at hand.
Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments within the energy sector.
Cultivate and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, brokers, and other key stakeholders.
Partner with leadership to define underwriting strategies and guidelines for the energy portfolio.
Monitor and assess the performance of the assigned portfolio, recommending adjustments and improvements where necessary.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Additional certifications or an advanced degree are a plus.
Required Skills
At least 5 years of experience in underwriting large property accounts, particularly within the energy sector.
Strong expertise in the energy industry, with a deep understanding of the various energy sources, technologies, and associated risks.
Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities, with a strong aptitude for assessing complex risks.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and maintain lasting relationships.
A proven record of achieving underwriting targets and contributing to the overall profitability of a portfolio.
Proficiency with underwriting tools and software, along with a solid grasp of industry best practices.
