PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Key operational role responsible for providing leadership with critical production and inventory reporting necessary to support operational decisions within SCT's corrugated packaging manufacturing facility. Actively engages with production teams and utilizes deep operational understanding to analyze data, reconcile errors and ensure accuracy prior to final review, and works with team to develop corrective action plans to ensure ongoing compliance. Creates cost estimates requested by Sales for corrugated packaging solutions to serve current or prospective customers within the bakery, food service, and retail consumer packaging industries. Partners with team to evaluate and analyze all cost variables or alternatives to ensure favorable estimates that maximize profitability and meet customer needs.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Reviews all jobs and production orders for accuracy before releasing job to production; responsible for finalizing and closing out all jobs.
Produces daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or year end production and inventory reports to Plant Management and/or Finance to equip and inform leaders with operational and financial decisions; provides various production related data and reports including inventory reporting (Raw Materials, WIP, Finished Goods, Inks, RSCs, etc.), Quality Assurance reports (internal/external complaints, credits, non-conformance, etc.), Production Performance (efficiencies, downtime, waste, etc.), production data needed for Continuous Improvement projects, and other ad hoc reporting as needed
Actively partners and engages with production team members on a daily basis to audit and review inventory balances and ensure shop floor reporting is compliant with established policies; manages audit processes including leading physical inventory counts and comparing daily cycle counts for raw materials and finished goods to quantities reported in the system; audits and reconciles pallet programs; reports any variances found and actively partners with team to develop corrective action plans
Engages Plant Leadership and Finance to determine the need for any inventory adjustments and processes necessary adjustments needed to reflect overruns, quality issues, phantom inventory, etc.
Reviews reports from finance to identify and correct possible errors with production related entries; reports findings to Finance and Plant Leadership and partners with team to develop necessary correction action
Serves as Subject Matter Expert on utilization of the shop floor data system and the production reporting policies and procedures to ensure compliance; actively engages with plant floor to train and educate team members, including new hires, on effective and compliant operation of the system, how to accurately report information and how to utilize the data to improve performance; actively contributes to developing and maintaining updates to related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials
Assists with requests for cost estimates from Sales and Customer Service to determine pricing estimates that support the overall business utilizing accurate production job costs including raw materials, freight, inks, tooling costs, dies, etc.; actively works with team to prioritize requests and manage the que of outstanding estimates
Collaborates with internal teams to explore alternatives to carton structure, specifications, functionality, substrate, print styles, etc. that would improve favorability of estimates and maximize profitability; assesses all variables and impact to the cost estimate; evaluates risk and compares the cost/benefit of alternatives
Partners closely with Production Leadership to stay current with changes to manufacturing costs, production capabilities, machine depreciation, inventory updates and other operational variables that impact the accuracy of cost estimates, inventory management, job costing and/or production reporting; actively seeks to stay current on understanding industry specific norms and practices, manufacturing and economic trends, and the current market of raw materials
Participates in daily scheduling and job planning meetings with internal partners to understand the changing priorities and needs of the business; gathers all necessary information to produce accurate reporting and/or optimal cost estimates
Actively engages team to seek opportunities to improve and implement new business processes, procedures or ideas that will add to the innovation and efficiency of serving customers or that positively impact financial results.
Supports and assists others, inside and outside of the department, with tasks or projects as needed to help cover responsibilities when team members are out of the office, assist with events, or serve on various projects, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent, plus 2 -3 years of experience in manufacturing responsible for production reporting, cost accounting, or inventory management; Bachelor's degree is a plus.
Requires minimum of two years experience working within in manufacturing facility
Requires strong technical aptitude, proficiency with MS Office suite with advanced MS Excel skills; Radius® ERP - Manufacturing Resource Planning software (MRP) experience (or related software) is highly preferred
Requires strong analytical and problem solving skills; must demonstrate knowledge of basic accounting principles with a strong working knowledge of machine and production capabilities and strong attention to detail
Requires ability to effectively engage and communicate with team members across all levels from plant operators to leadership; ability to train and educate others
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand complex documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, and communicate in English.
