The Estimator's responsibilities may include assisting with the quantification of work items, bid solicitation, estimate pricing, preliminary value analysis, scope development, and processing of computerized data. May work with the preparation of complete estimates for projects. The Electrical Estimator will play a key role in our client's estimates for all electrical systems, preparing proposals and presenting said proposals to the customer. This is a multi-faceted position including, but not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Read and understand construction documents and produce efficient, reliable, and competitive estimates per required time and schedule demands.
Communicate with customers to define the project scope, address deficiencies, negotiate pricing, and build long-term relationships.
Prepare and present complete estimate packages to senior management.
Continuously follow up and log all bid projects and accurately forecast future awards/probabilities.
Interact and provide direction for field supervision/general foreman to ensure design intent and cost-effective measures are being fulfilled.
Negotiate fixture/gear pricing and monitor delivery dates.
Prepare contractual exhibits and scope documents.
Able to perform quantity take-offs
Conduct internal estimate review meetings.
After the bid, collect and organize all bid information for future reference
Develop and document logical assumptions during conceptual estimating activities
Lead hard bid estimates from start to finish, assign roles to team members, call and lead meetings as needed to meet goals and dates, follow up and through to deliver tight competitive estimates minimizing scope gaps and misses.
Work with other estimators and project team members, encourage ethics in estimating, be aggressive yet sound in bid fees, buydowns, and margins
Provide input on strategies, be creative, and voice ideas and options to help book work, a success hit ratio of 25% is needed, secure subcontractor coverage and active relationships, call subcontractors, and secure their best numbers.
Help locate leads, attend and actively participate in site visits, pursue conference calls, subcontractor lists and contacts a plus, positive history and positive working relationships with subcontractors are a must.
Write scope sheets, and instructions to bidders, distribute documents and instructions to bidders and bidder information, and be able to support self without administrative and clerical assistance.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Skills, Education, and Competencies
Associate degree and/or a proven track record of estimating and managing projects in the construction industry
5 to 7 years as Trade applying for (Electrical, Refrigeration, Carpentry).
Must be able to estimate and process field change orders with a sense of urgency
Self-motivated to follow through the estimate process from inception to completion
Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Be an honest team player, growth-oriented, and able to do whatever it takes; safely!
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the job's essential functions. Work is performed in a normal office environment.
The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see and talk.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
Light to moderate lifting may be required.
All employees may be required to visit a customer site and/or complete a ride along with a field technician as part of their employment.
