We are seeking a highly skilled Network Manager V to join our team in Newport News, VA. The successful candidate will oversee network management responsibilities, providing expertise in managing wired and wireless data network systems and mentoring junior engineers. This role involves hands-on technical work, troubleshooting, and network optimization, with a focus on Juniper technologies and a strong understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 network protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and manage network systems remotely and onsite, ensuring optimal performance.
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot wired and wireless data network systems and devices.
Develop and maintain network diagrams, project plans, and documentation to meet RMF and ATO requirements.
Configure and maintain Taclane devices and manage Juniper switches, routers, and Aruba wireless systems.
Utilize government-provided network security and management tools such as JUNOS Space, Cisco Prime, Wireshark, and Microsoft Visio.
Detect and resolve network component failures, ensuring rapid response and resolution.
Conduct routine network maintenance and implement system improvements to enhance efficiency.
Provide technical expertise and training, develop SOPs, and review network documentation for compliance.
Collaborate across departments and with customers, communicating technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Respond to after-hours network outages and emergencies as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
IAT-II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent).
Experience:
5+ years of IT-related experience, including 2+ years of recent Juniper switch experience.
Senior Network Engineer experience, with proficiency in layer 2 and layer 3 troubleshooting.
Strong documentation skills and experience applying STIGs.
Technical Skills:
Hands-on experience with Juniper and Cisco devices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for creating network diagrams.
Familiarity with Aruba networking devices (preferred).
Clearance:
Active Secret Clearance.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
Juniper certification (JNCIA or higher) within six months of employment.
Experience with Aruba wireless systems and related technologies.
CCNA certification is highly preferred.
