Position Overview The MEP Estimator will be responsible for providing accurate and timely cost estimates for mechanical and plumbing systems in construction projects. Estimates will include materials, consumables, incorporated equipment and labor, direct and indirect costs. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating in the commercial mechanical space.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate estimates for MEP systems.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure estimates are aligned with project goals and requirements.
Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
Prepare and maintain a database of costs, labor rates, and materials for MEP trades including HVAC and plumbing.
Evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
Provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions and value engineering opportunities during the estimating process.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in MEP estimating or a similar role within the construction industry.
Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems in construction.
Proficiency in estimation software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with subcontractors and clients.
