Job Description:
We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior embedded software engineer to join our team as our first internal hire focused on new product development. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our product line and make a substantial impact on the company's success.
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Development: Design, implement, and maintain firmware ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
Hardware Collaboration: Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to review schematics, resolve hardware-software tradeoffs, and debug system issues.
Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct rigorous integration testing and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance of embedded systems.
Documentation & Design: Translate datasheets and application notes into detailed firmware designs and ensure accurate documentation.
Protocol Implementation: Develop and support device-level communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and USB, as well as device-to-cloud protocols like MQTT, Bluetooth, and Matter.
Support & Guidance: Provide technical expertise and mentorship to team members, including engineers and technicians.
Quality Assurance: Consistently maintain high standards while rapidly delivering features.
Product Focus: Enhance the functionality of products with motion or actuation as needed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Embedded Systems Expertise: Demonstrated experience in embedded systems design and firmware development.
Programming Proficiency: Strong skills in languages commonly used for embedded systems, including C, C++, and Python.
Communication Protocols: Comprehensive understanding of device-level communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, USB) and device-to-cloud protocols (MQTT, Bluetooth, Matter).
Microcontroller Experience: Hands-on experience with microcontroller/microprocessor-based systems (e.g., ESP32, Nordic, ARM Cortex, PIC, AVR).
PCB Design Knowledge: Familiarity with PCB schematics, layout, and the ability to interpret technical datasheets.
Electrical Engineering Principles: Solid understanding of analog/digital circuit design, power electronics, and signal integrity.
Motion/Actuation: Experience with products involving motion or actuation is a plus.
