Responsibilities
The duties of the Senior Electric Power Engineer will include the following: Investigation and evaluation of incidents or accidents involving electrical contact (such as overhead lines, substations, or switchgear); Investigation and evaluation of cause of electrical equipment failures (including motors, transformers, etc.); Data collection and analysis; Document review and analysis; Inspection and documentation of scenes, equipment, and other evidence; Preparation and/or editing of reports, etc. Preparation of engineering details in support of litigation and expert witness testimony would likely be required as experience progresses.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a graduate of an accredited electrical engineering program (B.S. minimum, graduate degree preferred), and must be self-motivated and have very strong oral and written communication skills in English. A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience working at an electric power utility, a consulting and/or design firm that supports electric power utilities, and/or a manufacturer of electric power equipment is required. Experience in Forensic Engineering and Failure Analysis is desirable, but not required. Professional Engineering registration is required. Must be an American Citizen or already have credentials to legally work in the United States. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
