The Senior Lead Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor for construction projects. This role provides estimating support to the Chief Estimator and key stakeholders, managing the bidding, estimating, and purchasing activities from procurement to final proposal.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of 3-4 Estimators and report to the Chief Estimator.
Review project plans, specifications, and designs to ensure accuracy and detect errors.
Perform quantity take-offs, pricing calculations, and create trade/subcontractor lists.
Develop construction schedules and high-level estimates from schematic design to final bidding.
Write and manage RFIs, negotiate with subcontractors, and recommend value engineering options.
Attend meetings and conduct site visits to support estimating tasks.
Coordinate with stakeholders (owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors) to produce accurate budgets and bids.
Prepare cost estimates and participate in procurement presentations.
Oversee the preparation of bid packages and subcontractor/vendor communications.
Mentor and develop estimating team members.
Required Skills:
Expertise in estimating, construction cost analysis, budgeting, and negotiations.
Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Strong multitasking, organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Primavera, MS Project, and Procore.
Ability to work independently with limited guidance from the Chief Estimator.
