Akkodis is seeking a Hybrid Technical Author for a 12-month contract job with potential to extend or covert to perm with a client in Erie, PA. You will develop assembly and redress instructions. From experience learned, develop new content for similar equipment. You will use FrameMaker and CorelDraw to produce the manuals.
Rate Range: $35.00/hour to $45.00/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Using Assembly Drawings and BOMs, draft repair manuals and operation guides to be used for the assembly and disassembly of mining equipment.
Consults with various client contacts (external) and subject matter experts (internal and external) to gather product specific information
Develops technical information using client supplied resources such as BOMs, drawings and 3D models.
Consult with subject matter experts, to product teardowns and redress instructions.
Based off existing references you will modify content to match new tool design, adding graphic illustrations captured and inserted in assembly steps using FrameMaker, MS Word, SolidWorks and eDrawings Viewer.
Participates in meetings with clients and co-workers.
Advises Operations Manager of project status and potential issues
Work directly with customer contacts to complete users manuals.
Communicate and listen with a diverse group (tether communication style).
Completes various additional assignments as directed by Operations Manager and or customer.
Desired Qualifications:
Two to three years of Technical Writing experience is required.
Basic knowledge in developing technical manuals.
SolidWorks, eDrawings Viewer, MS Word, FrameMaker and CorelDraw are preferred.
Ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude.
Experience can be in any industry, but locomotive/ off highway/ automotive industries preferred.
