As the Manager, Digital Analytics at Straight Arrow News, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team that is constantly seeking to improve the news media industry and deliver news to viewers in innovative ways. Your work will involve analyzing and reporting on SAN audience data and providing executive management with insights and recommendations based on data. The ideal candidate will have a passion for turning complex data into actionable insights that can shape digital strategies.
Position Overview
The Manager, Digital Analytics will spearhead the analytics efforts to measure, analyze, and optimize the performance of our content, platforms, and audience strategies. This role requires a unique blend of strategic and technical expertise, as the Manager of Digital Analytics will interface with executives to deliver actionable digital media insights while also leading the hands-on implementation and debugging of analytics systems to ensure accurate and reliable data.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Implementation & Maintenance
Lead the implementation, configuration, and debugging of digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Amplitude, etc).
Collaborate with web development and app development teams to ensure seamless integration of tracking codes, scripts, and data layers.
Monitor and troubleshoot analytics platforms to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
Regularly audit analytics implementations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with privacy laws (e.g. GDPR, CCPA).
Collaborate with product and content teams to design and execute A/B and multivariate tests to optimize user experience and content impact.
Implement predictive models to forecast trends and recommend strategies.
Strategic Insight & Reporting
Act as the primary point of contact for executive data requests and analytics insights.
Develop and present clear, actionable reports and dashboards tailored to the needs of leadership teams.
Analyze audience behavior and content consumption trends across SAN.com, the SAN mobile app, social media and podcasts to uncover trends, opportunities, and insights that align with business goals.
Provide regular reporting and insights on KPIs including traffic, engagement, retention, and revenue.
Collaborate with editorial, product, marketing, and revenue teams to optimize strategy based on data insights.
Translate technical findings into clear, business-focused recommendations.
Collaboration & Leadership
Serve as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment of analytics strategies with organizational objectives.
Train and mentor team members on best practices in digital analytics and reporting.
Stay up-to-date with the latest digital analytics tools, technologies, and industry trends.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Proven experience (5+ years) in digital analytics, with hands-on implementation and debugging expertise.
Proficiency in analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
Deep knowledge of media metrics including CTR, dwell time, bounce rate, session depth, video engagement, and ARPU.
Experience working with advertising performance metrics (CPM, CPC, CPA) and subscription analytics.
Experience in content marketing, acquisition and conversion metrics (CPI, CAC)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving data-informed decisions.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects and requests in a fast-paced environment.
