Identify, develop, and implement strategies for engaging homeless veterans in need of obtaining long-term career oriented and meaningful employment.
Conduct intake assessments to determine the participant's eligibility and assist in the development of individualized reintegration/employment plans.
Assist eligible veterans with overcoming barriers to employment and housing goals.
Follow-up with employed veterans and employers to monitor employment performance.
Community Outreach:
Build and maintain partnerships with local service providers, community organizations, veteran service groups, employers, and government agencies to promote HVRP services.
Organize and participate in outreach events, job fairs, workshops, stand-downs, and informational sessions to engage homeless veterans.
Employer & Partner Outreach:
Establish and maintain relationships with employers and workforce development organizations to facilitate job placements for veterans.
Advocate for the employment of veterans and coordinate hiring opportunities within local businesses and industries.
Provide ongoing support to employers and veterans throughout the employment process.
Public Awareness, Advocacy, and Outreach:
Function as a spokesperson and advocate for homeless veterans, representing USA Cares in various public forums, media, and community events.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED (minimum).
Three years (minimum) of experience in outreach, case management, and/or program coordination with a nonprofit, social services, or veteran or military service-related organization(s).
Familiarity with one or more of the following: military service, veteran service organizations, homeless programs, employment services, or community-based outreach initiatives.
Skills & Abilities:
Initiative-taker and a strong drive to succeed.
Effective communication with people of various backgrounds, education levels, etc.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders including veterans, government agencies, employers, and community organizations.
Public speaking, and people skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems.
Knowledge of veteran-specific challenges, including PTSD, substance abuse, and homelessness.
Detail oriented.
Well-developed organizational skills.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license, appropriate car insurance, clean driving record, and willingness to travel.
Must have dependable transportation.
Ability to pass a background check.
