Manage the site and operations in the country, which includes SHE, compliance to legislation, logistics transport and warehousing, local procurement, planning/scheduling, order desk and manufacturing, maintenance, operational excellence and quality management. This scope includes PFR and Intercompany products from other sites.
Collaborate in global/regional teams and proactively contribute when his/her experience or skills are valuable.
The organization and job position
Provides an extensive range of chemical products and services for treating leather and for coating flexible materials.
Maintain an effective relationship with the business teams and functional teams and integrate the stakeholder interests in the strategy of the site.
The operations teams include members not hierarchically reporting to the Operations manager. The team is operationally managed as one team.
Profile
Training
College or University degree preferably in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Professional training in operational excellence
Knowledge/education of general operations in manufacturing and supply chain management
Experience
10 years manufacturing management experience preferably in a multi-national environment with affinity for the chemical industry
Good track record in management roles in more than one business discipline. The jobholder is expected to be capable of understanding operational, commercial and logistics needs and to lead, evaluate and manage people.
The jobholder must be a strong leader, a proactive person capable of leading a site locally and at the same time satisfy the business or other functions hosted on the site by efficient communication and cooperation. He / She has to be able to work efficiently with virtual teams.
Experience in managing relevant changes, leading small teams, influencing people and situations in a multifunctional and multicultural environment as well as project management are essential skills
Broad understanding in key areas of an international business such as sales, operations, finance, supply chain, HR and its implications.
Effective analytical capability to understand and analyze figures and situations to draw meaningful conclusions and drive actions when necessary.
Knowing and able to utilize the methods of operational excellence and/ or lean practices
Good understanding of basic financial concepts and ability to prepare, manage and control a budget and its process.
In addition to the local language mastering of the English language in writing and spoken communication.
Major tasks/responsibilities
Management of site & operations activities
Execute an effective leadership towards the safety culture of the organization in alignment with global standards.
Assures safe operations and adequate working conditions for the workers on site and in the operations compliant to relevant legislation and standards.
Assures high quality consistency in the products and a service level matching service level agreements as defined with the business teams.
Introduce new products on site in close cooperation with R&D and the business teams.
Defines and manages the annual budgets which are agreed with the COO.
Supervises all relevant functions to meet the purpose of the job. This includes as a minimum production on site, site procurement, site & country logistics, CSD, quality control, operational excellence and planning/scheduling
Uses resources efficiently / optimizes processes in order to achieve the relevant companies defined KPI's
Develops and implements a 3-year site development plan which summarizes the key developments for the site
Manage the asset base by adequate maintenance, timely reinvestment and sustained reliable performance within agreed budgets
Ensures state of the art technical/technological adequacy of the plant for new products and for higher efficiency
Stakeholder management to continue license to operate with relevant stakeholders such as authorities, fire brigade, industrial associations... etc
Production planning/scheduling, manufacturing and delivery
Ensures on time supply in quality, quantity, and time
Ensures cost control according to approved capex and flex budget
Realize continuous improvement based on operational excellence processes in order to reduce costs and ensure competitive KPI's
Proactively resolves quality issues arising from the production or logistics process
Initiate, develop and maintain an integrated supply chain and S&OP process
Maintain efficient distribution coordination between the plant and other sources of supply and the different sales centers
Investments, financials, projects management and audits
Identifies and implements improvement projects in order to achieve ongoing improvements in all dimensions of the objective and with that securing sustainable future for the site and country operations.
Responsible for realization of all investments on site regarding quality, time and costs
Ensures management system compliance with the relevant audit standards (e.g. ISO 9001/14001/18001/45001/50001
