LHH is working with a full-service civil construction company in McKinney, TX specializing in large site infrastructure, underground, and road work. They are currently seeking an Estimator to join their team.
About the Role - Working under minimal supervision, the Estimator is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting contract documents (specifications, drawings, and reference information) to develop detailed, comprehensive cost estimates for various construction projects. This role requires close interaction with engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely and accurate submission of each project estimate.
Responsibilities
Attend pre-bid meetings or site visits to determine project parameters and verify existing conditions.
Read and analyze bid plans, technical documents, and specifications to determine the full scope of work and bid requirements.
Perform quantity take-off reports, presentations, and pricing efforts for internal reviews and budgets, maintaining a digital record of those take-offs on company devices.
Collect and analyze data to estimate the time, money, materials, equipment, subcontracted work, and labor required to complete the project.
Prepare and complete cost estimates in Heavy Bid.
Obtain material and subcontract quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
Manage vendor and subcontractor quote comparisons and present them to the team for review.
Manage comparisons between self-perform estimates and subcontractor quotes and present them to the team for review.
Build good relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Update and maintain the vendor and subcontractor database.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates.
Prepare final bid proposals and technical documents with the estimating team.
Develop preliminary project plans and schedules with other team members.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Microsoft programs, Bluebeam, Adobe, and HCSS (Heavy Bid). Additional working knowledge preferred but not required on AutoCAD, Agtek, and MicroStation.
Demonstrate independent thinking and initiative on a consistent and regular basis.
This position is office-based, working during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.

Qualifications
Heavy Civil Construction estimating: 5 years (Required)
Degree not necessarily requirement - equivalent experience
