Job Description:

Position Description:

The estimator is responsible for developing cost estimates on routine small projects under direct supervision for construction as required by clients' documents.

Essential Functions:

Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid.

Executes take-offs of construction documents.

Inputs take-offs into a computer spreadsheet.

Obtains pricing for materials.

Obtains bids from subcontractors.

Prepares cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.

Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate.

Informs the immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.

Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.

Attends departmental meetings as required.

Photocopies documents and plans.

Physical Demands:

Mostly sedentary position. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Required Education, Experience, Certification and Licenses:

Associates Degree in Business Management, Finance, Construction Management; or equivalent training similar field

Familiarity with Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) standards and practices (preferred)

Minimum 10 years of related experience (preferred)

Microsoft Office experience

Mechanical experience required

Electrical experience required

Nuclear or construction experience (preferred)
