Commercial Construction Estimator Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Estimator well-versed in structural concrete and MEP scope to join our self-performing construction team. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently (at times) and as a member of a collaborative team based on how bid package responsibilities are delegated by the VP of Construction. The chosen Estimator will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely bids are submitted. Key Responsibilities
Serve as a key member of the estimating team in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for ground up commercial projects
Review and analyze project plans and specifications to accurately determine project scope and requirements
Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure accurate and complete bid packages
Manage bid deadlines and ensure timely submission of bids
Participate in post-bid reviews and work closely with project teams to ensure successful project execution
Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy
Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specs
Qualifications
3+ years of relevant estimating experience with a self-performing GC
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Familiarity with civil, electrical, and mechanical scope
Prior experience with negotiated work and conceptual estimating
Successful track record with design-build projects
Experience working on midrise or high-rise projects with concrete/steel frame
Ability to read and interpret project plans and specs
Proficiency with Excel and industry accepted estimating software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Prior experience with value engineering is a PLUS
