About the Role
The Engineering Manager oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. You'll ensure the manufacturing and process engineering teams and cross-functional departments work together cohesively and be responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process. This role also leads and directs the work of assigned manufacturing engineers and process engineers.
Responsibilities
Review and filter new business opportunities, assess risks to manufacturing, and provide alternatives to customers with partnership with product line manager and estimators
Monitor plant capacity and implement solutions with leadership team buy- in
Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel
Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space
Work closely with new product development, quality and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures/automation
Ensure all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times
Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies
Support all current and new product introductions
Determine and eliminate root causes and diminish occurrences in the manufacturing process
Mentor and coach new manufacturing engineers and other employees as needed
Maintain department related documentation, including training and work instructions
Lead implementation and ownership of new capacity or improvement related projects
Assist in reducing cost through re-engineering product/material/process
Education + Experience:
REQUIRED:
Four-year year degree in engineering
Seven years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering
Understanding of ISO9001 or 13485 standards
DESIRED:
Previous supervisory experience
Experience in tool design/modifications
Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Training
Experience with clean room manufacturing, medical manufacturing and/or injection molding
