Collaborates closely with project leads, discipline engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure capital projects meet company and industry standards. The OT Engineer works in tandem with project EPCs and other vendors to ensure OT systems are properly engineered and operational, while effectively managing cybersecurity risks to the business.
Technical Responsibilities:
Ensure OT systems are designed and implemented according to the project design basis, internal/external standards, and industry best practices.
Manage and promptly respond to technical queries related to OT systems from EPCs and system vendors.
Develop and maintain project requirements and standards documentation.
Oversee OT and cybersecurity sections in project documentation, including basis of design documents, control philosophies, scopes of work, and contracts.
Attend and witness factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) on behalf of the company.
Design and engineer company-provided OT systems.
Work Processes & Systems:
Create and maintain OT schedules aligned with the master project schedules.
Attend regular project meetings across multiple time zones.
Provide input to weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to IT, Cybersecurity, and Project Leadership.
Collaboration:
Work closely with package and discipline engineering leads to ensure OT requirements are considered and understood across all scopes.
Collaborate with international and Australian OT engineering teams for alignment.
Attend and provide input to project HAZOP/CHAZOP and other risk assessment activities.
Act as the single point of contact for capital projects OT and cybersecurity.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience working on major multidiscipline capital projects.
Minimum 5 years of experience managing or working with IT, OT, control systems, and related technologies.
Experienced in engineering risk management practices.
Experienced in typical project management practices, including schedule and cost management.
Strong technical writing skills.
Strong communication and organizational skills with good stakeholder management abilities.
Strong solution design and documentation skills are essential.
Experience in OT, ICS, IEC 61511 Functional Safety, Process Safety, and Critical Infrastructure environments is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of frameworks including NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-82, NIST 800-207, NIST 800-160v1, IEC 62443, CIS, ISO 27001, and SANS ICS/OT Critical Controls.
Technical Knowledge
Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including SCADA, PLC, DCS, HMI, and instrumentation.
Good understanding of OT network switching, routing, and firewalling, including knowledge of common industrial protocols.
Knowledge of current and emerging cybersecurity threats and attacker TTPs.
Maintain a good understanding and application of applicable cybersecurity standards and frameworks, such as NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-82, NIST 800-207, NIST 800-160v1, IEC 62443, CIS, ISO 27001, and SANS ICS/OT Critical Controls.
Ability to identify and technically assess cybersecurity threats, risks, and controls.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an industry-recognized university.
Evidence of some level of cybersecurity certification (e.g., CISSP, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
A tertiary qualification in cybersecurity will be highly regarded.
