The Director of Quality Engineering will be a key member of the organization, working with department heads, the CEO, and the Leadership Team to ensure high-quality standards are upheld throughout the manufacturing process. Acting as the Quality champion, this individual will assess current systems, implement value-added improvements, and drive QA initiatives to optimize processes, minimize defects, and enhance customer satisfaction. RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Control Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures to ensure vehicles meet company standards and customer specifications.
Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements within the production line and recommend solutions to enhance product quality, efficiency, and safety.
Inspections and Testing: Oversee inspections and testing of incoming materials, in-process products, and final vehicles to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of quality control inspections, test results, and non-conformances. Prepare detailed reports and quality documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for any quality issues that arise, and work with cross-functional teams to develop corrective and preventive actions.
Compliance: Ensure that all quality assurance processes comply with industry regulations, customer requirements, and company policies. Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards.
Training: Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality assurance procedures and best practices.
Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components. Conduct supplier audits and assessments as needed.
Customer Feedback: Monitor and analyze customer feedback and warranty claims to identify trends and areas for improvement. Implement necessary changes to enhance customer satisfaction.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the automotive or specialty vehicle industry.
Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and tools including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and root cause analysis.
Knowledge of ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001.
Familiarity with automotive or specialty vehicle industry standards and regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform detailed inspections and root cause analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or Six Sigma is a plus.
