In this role, you will lead the development of the autonomy system for our client's fleet of autonomous mining robots, guiding the process from sensor selection through to qualification and lunar surface operations.
Responsibilities
Take full ownership of the autonomy system, from initial concept to deployment on the lunar surface.
Design the complete autonomy architecture, including sensor selection, development of sensor fusion algorithms, and creation of other essential software algorithms for autonomy on the Moon and Mars.
Write performant, highly reliable, and maintainable autonomy code for our client's fleet of lunar rovers.
Develop a comprehensive qualification plan for the autonomy system prior to the initial lunar mission.
Collaborate with the Embedded Software team to integrate autonomy algorithms onto custom spacefaring hardware.
Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
Required Qualifications
Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, OR demonstrated excellence in the design & development of autonomous vehicles through significant professional experience.
5+ years of engineering experience with at least 3+ years dedicated to building autonomous vehicles.
Experience with sensor selection for vehicle autonomy.
Experience in writing software algorithms for autonomy in aerospace, automotive, or robotics applications.
Outstanding communication skills.
Evidence of exceptional engineering ability.
A strong desire to contribute to making humans a multi-planet species.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in developing, debugging, and deploying software that has been used in real-world applications.
