Job Description:

We are seeking an Engineering Manager, BESS to lead technical support in the pre-commissioning and asset management phases, bridging engineering and operations teams. This is a managerial, technical role requiring strong leadership and electrical engineering expertise to ensure the smooth transition of projects to asset management. The position offers an opportunity to grow a small team and work closely with both engineering and operations leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Commissioning Support: Manage technical efforts in the pre-commissioning phase to prepare assets for successful transition to asset management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the VP of Engineering, Director of Operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and alignment between engineering, operations, and asset management teams.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a small team, including a junior engineer and a SCADA engineer, with the potential for future team expansion. Proven leadership experience is a key requirement.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide ongoing technical expertise and problem-solving support for both engineering and operations teams to ensure the optimal performance of assets.
  • Asset Handover: Oversee the process of transitioning projects from engineering to asset management, ensuring all technical aspects are properly set up for ongoing operations.
  • Operations & Engineering Interface: Act as a liaison between engineering and operations, ensuring technical requirements are met while optimizing for operational efficiency.
  • Ongoing Support: Provide leadership and technical guidance throughout the asset lifecycle, supporting teams to maintain high asset performance and reliability.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Background: A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Significant engineering experience, with a technical focus on asset management or operations, is essential.
  • Relevant Experience: Experience in operations and maintenance (O&M), independent power producers (IPP), or a similar sector is highly preferred. A well-rounded background with experience in both operational and supplier-side roles is ideal.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams. Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, with a strong focus on team growth and cohesion.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of electrical engineering systems and operations, with a track record of providing technical leadership and support.
  • Project Management: Strong project management and organizational skills, with a detail-oriented approach to managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the operational and asset management side of engineering, particularly within the energy or related industries.

Additional Information:
  • Location: This position can be based in California or Texas, allowing proximity to key project sites for on-site support when needed.
  • Travel: Expect up to 30% travel, primarily to project locations in California and Texas.

Salary will dependent on candidate's experience and ability to perform the role.
