Design development and production fixtures for assembly and test of medical devices. Support product design engineers with prototype builds. Support qualification and manufacturing launch activities
The Manufacturing / Equipment Design Engineer II position is part of the Advance Manufacturing Engineering department that is responsible for developing manufacturing lines for new medical products. The Equipment Design Engineer II is expected to have the appropriate experience in CAD software and machine design.
A Day in the Life:
Design assembly and test equipment using CAD software (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
Define design requirements and conduct design reviews
Prototype and test designs throughout the development process
Support product design engineers with prototype builds
Participate in manufacturing planning and analysis activities
Partner with outside suppliers to develop production equipment
Support qualification and manufacturing launch activities
Must Have:
BS Mechanical Engineering
3+ Years machine design experience
3+ Years CAD software experience (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
Automation design experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have:
Experience in medical industry
Product design and development experience
Validation and process development experience
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensure processes and procedures are following regulations.
