What You Will Do

The Manufacturing Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for using Lean/Six Sigma principles to improve manufacturing processes and foster a Lean Culture throughout the plant. This role focuses on Value Stream Engineering to meet customer demand while achieving cost savings. Working under the Air Distribution Continuous Improvement System framework, the engineer will assess current state performance, identify gaps, and implement future-state plans to improve processes, monitor progress, and share best practices while supporting the Air Distribution Manufacturing System (ADMS).

How You Will Do It

  • Facilitate cross-functional expert teams to drive Best-in-Class performance in People, Quality, Material Flow, and Cost.
  • Conduct Value Stream Analysis (Current and Future State Value Stream Mapping).
  • Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement Manager to assess plant operations and develop future-state visions.
  • Drive multifunctional teams and implement Best-in-Class Operations processes.
  • Coach team members on Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma principles; effectively communicate and train employees at all levels.
  • Identify and implement Lean lines/cells (line balancing).
  • Lead 5S and Visual Factory activities.
  • Gather Air Distribution Manufacturing Systems Assessment data.
  • Use tracking/reporting systems to prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and achieve quality and savings goals.
  • Forecast and validate cost savings for future projects using the CI TRAC Management System.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute a Continuous Improvement Roadmap.
  • Identify and address barriers to project success, escalating issues when needed.
  • Assist the Continuous Improvement Manager with compliance to standards, new system implementations, and designing creative solutions to improve plant operations.
  • Likely assume additional Manufacturing Engineering duties and area responsibilities as needed.
  • Automation, PLC, and/or robotics experience is a plus.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing or process improvement, preferably in a Lean manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience; Black Belt preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, and Visual Factory.
  • Experience with project management and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and cost forecasting.
  • Strong communication, training, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with CI tracking/reporting tools like CI TRAC Management System.

Preferred Skills

  • Master's degree in engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in automation, robotics, and PLC programming.
  • Previous leadership experience in manufacturing engineering or continuous improvement.
  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data-driven manufacturing processes.
  • Proven success in implementing sustainable cost savings and process improvements.
