H. Stephen Jones & Associates, Inc. (HSJ) is seeking an Architectural Hardware Consultant with a minimum of 5 years of experience designing, specifying, and coordinating doors/frames/door hardware and electronic access control systems on complex projects. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, engineer, specify, coordinate, and manage mechanical and electromechanical doors/frames/hardware (Division 08) and electronic access control systems (Division 28) scopes on complex construction/renovation projects
Perform site surveys/inspections to assess and document existing conditions of doors/frames/hardware, access control systems and their supporting infrastructure
Review and apply applicable building codes for specific projects to ensure designs for mechanical and electromechanical doors/frames/hardware and security (electronic access control systems) are code compliant
Facilitate user group meetings with clients to understand their unique requirements
Manage all aspects of physical security systems across multiple concurrent projects
Collaborate with clients, vendors, and all other disciplines to develop thoroughly coordinated physical security systems designs
Maintain industry product knowledge and manufacturer relationships to provide added value to clients
Attend project coordination meetings with project team including architect, contractors, and client/owner
Perform construction administration services (Ex: inspections/RFI responses/submittal and shop drawing reviews)
MUST-HAVE (REQUIRED) QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 5 years' experience designing and specifying access control systems and doors, frames, and hardware for large construction projects
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Acute attention to detail and deep understanding of building codes and their applications
Thrive in fast paced environment dealing with multiple concurrent clients and project teams
Comfortable navigating between projects and capable of managing/prioritizing critical project work
Up to 15% travel [Travel limited to 1-2 nights/trip]
High School Diploma
Positive attitude with good collaboration skills
NICE-TO-HAVE (PREFERRED) QUALIFICATIONS:
Door Hardware Consultant (DHC), Architectural Hardware Consultant (AHC), Certified Door Consultant (CDC), and/or Electrified Hardware Consultant (EHC) Door Hardware Institute (DHI) Certification
ASIS certification: PSP or CPP or similar certification
CSI certification: CDT or CCS
Bachelor's degree
Project Management Institute (PMP) or similar certification
Experience on healthcare and/or government construction projects
