BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, lighting design, and building commissioning services.
BR+A is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer in our Houston, TX office. The candidate must be strongly motivated, well organized, and show professional initiative The ability to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team is necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of Revit, and their responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality designs and deliverables on technically challenging projects
Performing advanced heating and cooling load calculations with Trace or HAP
Developing sections and elevations of complex ductwork and piping areas
Developing equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases
Editing specifications to reflect the project requirements
Developing air and water flows
Understanding fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for application
Using the psychrometric chart properly for any HVAC system
Meeting with vendors to determine specification requirements for application
Coordinating with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc) for all HVAC details
Responding to RFI's for the project, and accurately review submittals
Understanding work planning and managing the design process to the available hours in the work plan
Understanding the proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents and delivering appropriate documentation
Modifying sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW and HW systems
Understanding both constant and variable flow systems, and properly applying equipment
Meeting with contractors during the bid phase to review the design details
Performing field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects
Essential Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in designing Healthcare, Higher Education or Laboratory projects

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
PE License
10-15 years of relevant experience
