The Automation Engineer will lead the development, administration, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of operations networks, historian servers, HMIs, and web services. This role includes network monitoring, performance analysis, standard development/implementation, and internal customer support, with coordination among plants, internal customers, and contractors.
Responsibilities:
Network Systems: Program, design, and troubleshoot network systems to maintain, backup, and improve performance, including network infrastructure, firewalls, services, data networks, HMIs, historian servers, data reliability, and PLC operations.
PLC Support: Assist in troubleshooting and programming PLCs, focusing on Rockwell Control Logix, Compact Logix, Wonderware operator stations, and historians.
Wonderware Systems: Maintain and troubleshoot Wonderware Operator Station systems (InTouch, System Platform, InTouch Anywhere, Historian).
Data Storage and Networks: Manage Process Data storage, data client users, plant networks, and backups.
Web Services: Maintain and troubleshoot Process web services, including Downtime, Customer interfaces, and operator portals.
Documentation: Develop and maintain system documentation, including standards, configurations, network diagrams, and address tables.
Advanced Controls: Support the development of new controls and cloud infrastructure for advanced process controls.
Data Backup: Perform and maintain backups of critical data, systems, and programs.
Workstation Maintenance: Maintain existing control workstations and deploy new ones as required.
Control Systems Design: Collaborate with production and engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize control systems for safety, compliance, productivity, efficiency, reliability, and quality.
Project Management: Oversee project control programs, functional control specifications, and resource coordination.
System Commissioning: Commission electrical and automation networking systems, ensuring vendor compliance with scope and functionality.
Vendor Interface: Work with equipment and system integration vendors, ensuring documentation and deliveries meet expectations.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or Associate's degree with relevant experience.
Experience: 5+ years in IT/OT, network, electrical, instrumentation, configuration, and implementation, preferably in a heavy/production industry.
Certifications: Preferred certifications include CCST, CAP, network, security, Microsoft, and Cisco.
Technical Skills:
Process control instrumentation, network protocols, web services, Windows, Cisco, Checkpoint, troubleshooting.
Aveva Intouch (Wonderware), RSlogix programming, Kepware, Windows 7/10/server/datacenter, VMWare/VSphere, Checkpoint, network configuration, and troubleshooting.
Programming languages (Python, R, C, C++, Java) are a plus.
Travel:
Up to 20-50%, including overnight stays and extended assignments during critical periods.
