Job/Position Summary

Radio Frequency (RF) Test and Assembly Engineer is a goal-oriented, self-motivated individual with strong technical ability and effective verbal and written communication skills. The position is responsible for developing and executing testing of cutting-edge RF Integrated Passive Devices (IPD) and Microwave System-in-Package (SiP) integrated circuits. This involves creating test plans, working with technicians to ensure proper procedures are followed, and automating testing to increase throughput and test consistency. The position also reviews and synthesizes test outcomes to present to other members of the team as well as to customers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Formulate, manage, and perform RF test scenarios and environments.
  • Test, evaluate, and assemble standard RF devices such as filters, couples, inductors, and capacitors.
  • Automate measurements, testing, and analysis using software tools such as Python and JMP.
  • Develop procedures and plans, including analysis and data management for small, medium, and large volume testing.
  • Work with customers and applications engineers to understand and drive testing and data requirements.
  • Use measurement equipment such as vector network analyzers, source meters, digital multimeters to fully characterize electrical devices.
  • Create machine-to-machine and user interfaces to improve testing throughput and accuracy.
  • Engineer, design, and build support fixtures, test setups, and harnesses for RF devices on wafers and evaluation boards.
  • Plan and coordinate timeline, personnel, and equipment resources for reliability testing campaigns according to industry standards.
  • Manage, coordinate, and perform test and assembly efforts on RF components, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering equipment to perform tests, assembly, and engineering tasks.
  • Present test outcomes to members of the engineering team and upper management.
  • Monitor and evaluate RF test team's project work to ensure effectiveness, technical adequacy, or compatibility in the resolution of complex electronics engineering problems.
  • Direct or coordinate activities concerned with manufacture, assembly, installation, maintenance, operation, or modification of electronic equipment, products, or systems.
  • Must be able to fully understand production capabilities and data requirements and must be able to communicate professionally with customer personnel.
  • Confer with engineers, customers, vendors, or others to discuss existing or potential electronics engineering projects or products.
  • Provide technical support or instruction to RF test team staff and customers regarding electronics equipment standards.
  • Write technical papers and application notes for inclusion on the web site and technical seminars.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines.
  • Perform additional functions and other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's in electrical engineering required; Master's in electrical engineering desired.
  • 2-5+ years of RF Test and Assembly experience.
  • Previous experience with wafer probing and semiconductor fabrication desired.
  • This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in these roles will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident, or ability to meet contract-specific licensure requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in Python or similar scripting language, especially for data analysis and automation.
  • Strong circuit simulation skills utilizing 2.5/3D EM tools such as AWR, ADS, CST, and HFSS.
  • Knowledge of RF filter and Integrated Passive Device concepts and test techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel requirements may be 10% or greater.

Physical/Working Requirements
  • Within a manufacturing environment, must be able to follow rules and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
