Description

Serve as the Coordinator to the Honors College and UG Research as the first point of contact for faculty, staff, students, parents, and other constituents; applicable departments and centers. Coordinate and manage Honors College events. Advise the Honors College Student Association. Manage the maintenance of the program website, social media and develop publicity material. Function as the Honors College building manager and participate in decision-making.

Manage data and processes regarding membership, program completion and financials. Act as the liaison between the Honors College and the Online & Learning Engagement office (O&LE): monitor departmental budget and provide financial guidance to the Manager of Business and Fiscal Operations for future decision making; work with School Chairs and Office Professionals to manage the purchase and reimbursement process for student projects; ensure accuracy of the course catalog and class schedules. Advise students, establish and maintain alumni relations in the Honors College.
Manage the collaboration with Admissions, Registrar, Financial Services, O&LE, and other university areas regarding marketing, recruitment, and retention. Manage data for assessment and program directives. Supervise and approve the time for temporary employees, student employees, and Graduate Assistants.

Examples of Duties

Coordinator to the Honors College and UG Research. - 40%
  • Plans, organizes, and implements program assessment for the Honors College. Collaborates with the Honors College and Undergrad Research faculty liaisons. Manages the Honors College house and is involved in the decision making for maintenance and upkeep.
  • Coordinates with faculty and staff regarding Honors College student projects and resolves any issues regarding student success. Manages all Honors College sponsored events and functions, collaborates with all constituents on event success and resolves any issues.
  • Supports and engages with students by maintaining regular communication. Assists in recruitment and orientation initiatives including developing strategies and materials, visiting with prospective students and parents, and coordinating recruiting, orientation and registration events.
  • Creates and maintains accurate and up-to-date information on the department website, social media as well as develops and oversees production of recruitment material. Coordinates with community partners to create programming for student experiential learning opportunities and community engagement initiatives.

  • Monitors and ensures the accuracy of the Honors College budget. Identifies funding issues and collaborates with the Manager of Business and Fiscal Operations for O&LE on future decision making. Processes budget-related paperwork as needed.
  • Manages student membership applications, applies student admittance fees, and processes withdrawal requests. Facilitates Study Abroad grant data, course equivalency forms, course substitutes and required course gen eds for Honors College, and supports international student recruitment.
  • Manages and monitors student data for reporting, advising and maintaining alumni relations within the Honors College program.
  • Advises the Honors College Student Association by monitoring the association budget and providing financial advisement for decision-making.
  • Advises students on their Honors College Projects. Works with School Chairs and Office Professionals to manage the purchasing and reimbursement process for those projects.

  • Collaborates with university offices and ensure accuracy regarding changes to the Honors College curriculum, course requirements, grade changes, and graduation status. Manage the program information in the UG catalog.
  • Facilitates retention efforts by managing enrollment data and providing research and assessment for strategic planning, decision making, special projects and events. Assist in recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Advises students and promotes success by answering questions and/or resolving policy-related issues or concerns.
  • Attends workshops, regionally or nationally, to maintain and improve Honors College directives.

Supervise staff. - 10%
  • Assigns and evaluates work and supervise temporary and student employees, and graduate assistants.
  • Evaluates performance, disciplines and/or terminates when needed.
  • Posts new positions, interviews, and selects new staff.

Typical Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, or a related field.
Equivalencies are based on the following: AA = 2 years experience; BA/BS = 4 years experience; MA/MS = 6 years experience; PhD = 8 years experience

Experience:
  • Two (2) years office management or administrative support experience required.
  • One (1) year budget operations, financial analysis, or accounting experience preferred.
