Purpose:

The Senior Technician Support, Document Control Reviews, approves the releases of engineering drawings with working knowledge of Comtech’s Empower/Omnify document control system, ECR/ECO process, Engineering / Production release process, and other documentation in conformance with company standards and practices. Updates logs, databases, catalogues, maintains files of engineering drawings, project reports, specifications, project proposals and documentation. Types process and status reports, assigns and monitors document numbers, and reviews documents for accuracy and completeness. Ensures documents meet standards for production. May use CAD database, copy machines for reproduction of documentation. Develops & maintains an escalation process for ECR/ECO that are 21 days past due.

Develops confirmation system that the appropriate end user received the ECR/ECO change notification. Follow up to confirm purge tasks have been completed in a timely period. May order supplies to maintain reproduction services.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and releases of engineering drawings with working knowledge of Comtech’s Empower/Omnify document control system, ECR/ECO process, Engineering / Production release process, and other documentation in conformance with company standards and practices.
  • Proactively manage changes and maintenance as needed.
  • Incorporate “redline” markups into drawings and BOMs for release.
  • Maintain MRP/ERP database information relating to Part/Assembly Information and BOMs and Product Configuration Tool.
  • Maintain electronic files, links, and directories to a high level of integrity.
  • Develops & maintains an escalation process for ECR/ECO that are 21 days past due.
  • Goes back 12 months to review, escalate previous ECRs and ECOs to closure.
  • Generates a weekly report of backlog, new ECR/ECO requests and completed ECR/ECOs.
  • Knowledge of PDF generation of all types of Documents.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities when required.

Skills:

  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong math aptitude (algebra, ratios, percentages).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP and PLM systems.
  • Must be extremely computer literate with experience importing and editing digital photos.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity and use of copy machines/scanning equipment.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • High-quality handwriting skills.

Requirements:

  • At a minimum, an associate degree in a technical field, i.e., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related, with 2 years of job-related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
  • MS Office, drawing programs (preferably Corel, Photo Shop, AutoCAD, Solid works, or an equivalent program package.) PLM and MRP/ERP experience
  • Active in supporting and helping in Document Control Customer requests.
  • Ability to comprehend Engineering drawing/BOM construction and usage
