Job Summary

Responsible for regulatory, franchising and public policy matters for the Miami- Dade and Monroe County area. Coordinates corporate initiatives and community affairs activities. Provides leadership and direction for diverse and sophisticated functions. Contributes to the development of the organization's business strategy. Interprets business strategy and develops organizational objectives to align with this strategy. Typically manages multiple teams of professionals. A legal background is preferred.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities
* Develops and implements strategy for government affairs and public policy issues for specific franchises as well as strategy for local regulatory initiatives. Secures and maintains franchise operating authority for the company.
* Reviews contracts and franchise agreements for the region consistent with corporate guidelines. Coordinates with corporate legal and Region VP of Government Affairs on such matters.
* Resolves complex and/or difficult franchise renewals, franchise transfers and franchise non-compliance issues, as required.
* Develops and maintains relationships with government representatives and regulators at the federal, state and local level. Travels to attend meetings, hearings, or other events to represent the company.
* Maintains community affairs budget(s).
* Coordinates programming related to corporate initiatives and community affairs activities.
* Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
* Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
* Reviews, coordinates and interprets legal documents for compliance and conformity to Company standards. Communicates terms and conditions of franchise-related agreements, local ordinances and other contracts for implementation by the field to ensure compliance.
* Develops and maintains relationships with government representatives and regulators at the local level to ensure the organization's interest are represented and protected in proceedings and the development of market rules and procedures.
* Supporting or expanding upon business and social initiatives that further Comcast's corporate objectives, including local planning, negotiation, project management, promotion, program implementation, and/or event production.
* Manages special projects related to Community Affairs.
* Monitor new legislative, business, or community initiatives to assess their impact on Comcast, along with education and rollout of any legislative matters that impact our business.
* Assist construction/operations in market expansion / permitting related issues. Works extensively with construction teams and permitting business partners to resolve high-stakes permitting issues. Assists with construction operations, such as expediting permits, right-of-way and private easement issues.

* Serves as the point of contact for various chambers of commerce, Florida Department of Commerce Local Technology Planning Teams.
* Establish and maintain relationships with key business and civic groups, economic councils, chambers, elected and government officials, universities/think tanks, community-based organizations, and special interest groups to monitor activities and Comcast-related issues, address possible concerns, facilitate sales, ensure Comcast is always part of the conversation.
* Support Rural Broadband efforts to include grant writing, BEAD advocacy, etc.
