Job Summary
This role will play a vital role in enhancing the student experience across multiple residential graduate programs. Responsible for providing day-to-day support to students, ensuring the operational success of administrative processes such as onboarding and advising throughout all phases of the learner experience. Lead communication outreach and transition initiatives to promote learner retention. Involves assisting students with academic policies and procedures, course selection, schedule planning, and preparation for successful business careers. Duties & Responsibilities
Student Advising & Academic Services
Provide Academic Advising Services for student program of study
Build a solid knowledge of all program curriculums in order to advise students
Build a deep knowledge of Department, College and University processes and policies regarding curriculum changes and other issues relevant to students
Serve as the lead Student Services resource for the at least one program including modifications of requirements and approval of optional concentrations
Assist with the creation of curriculum study plans with specific requirements
Advise students about specific academic program and graduation requirements of the Department and Graduate College
Advise students about the policies and procedures of the Department and College
Explain and illustrate use of the U of I Integrate registration
Utilize the University's Banner, Grad Recs, and Slate systems to enhance student advising
Use and interpret U.Achieve (DARS) reports
Inform and direct students to other appropriate institutional resources and services when applicable.
Assist students with resolution of academic problems in collaboration with program leadership
In collaboration with Gies program leadership and Grad College monitor students' progress toward the academic degree and facilitate communication with probation/at-risk students to strategically plan for future success
Serve as a contact for Graduate College regarding petitions, late add/drop, degree certification, etc.
Assist with compiling of student data when necessary
Student Outreach, Events and Experience
Work with Senior Assistant Director of Academic & Student Services to strategically plan and execute special events pertaining to academics including new student registration webinars.
Assist with the planning and facilitation of students focused events including, but not limited to, orientation, registration, professional development, networking and graduation.
Lead designated projects designed to improve program student engagement
Assist with creating and managing events as well as communications via Gies Groups
Miscellaneous
Work effectively with other personnel in the office, College and across campus
Perform other duties as related to Gies Graduate Programs
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Experience working with a diverse student population. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Must demonstrate a service-oriented attitude and enthusiasm for working with and advising students.
Two years of experience in an advising environment, including advising students; understanding student development issues as they relate to advising and the student experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant master's degree preferred.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after search close date. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience while also considering internal equity. The budgeted salary for this position is $56,000 to $57,000. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
Hybrid work options may be available for this position; however, must be available to be onsite at the University Illinois campus based on operational needs.
