Perform functions to oversee all engineering activities that support Ed Miniat, LLC future visions, growth and strategic plans. Key accountabilities include: establishing overarching goals & objectives for the engineering department; an engineering staff consisting of manufacturing, chemical, electrical and controls engineers; project management; capital budgets and oversight of regulatory programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and execute engineering standards, including best practices across the organization
Evaluate existing processes and recommend opportunistic improvements, including cost reduction recommendations
Research new technologies and manufacturing opportunities for improvement optimization of our processes and support infrastructure
Guide the leadership and development of the engineering team, managing the talent and personal development for sustainable growth including bench strength
Develop, organize, and execute the Capital Management plan, including project development, design and implementation for multiple plants
Direct training methods and technical leadership to staff and stakeholders regarding equipment operations, standards, safety and maintenance
Serve as the company Subject Matter Expert (SME) and ensure compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations
Support engineering expertise on equipment consistent with meat industry processes; further support of mechanical systems to include refrigeration, boilers, and building systems
Lead to ensure a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with standards, code enforcement and meeting regulatory and legal requirements

Management Responsibilities:
Manage and direct personnel in the engineering group for cooked meat facilities
Resolve issues arising from internal stakeholders; coordination, prioritization and deliverables
Driving the continuing education of staff through professional organizations, trade associations and professional network
Supervise department costs, personnel and methods
Responsible for hiring and firing of personnel
Establish standard of performance and ensure that organizational policies are carried out
Participate in the Performance Management Process
Oversee the administration of timecards and approval of time off requests
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a Chemical, Manufacturing or Process Engineering preferred
Eight - ten years' leadership experience managing an engineering department in a food manufacturing environment
Broad knowledge of food industry experience to include: sanitary design for equipment and facilities, process controls, P&ID's, and regulatory expectations conducive to operating industries
Demonstrated success leading complex projects with proven results
Self-Starter with Strong leadership qualities, business acumen, decision making and analytical skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with clear conveyance for information at all levels of the organization
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, software specific to engineering technology and AutoCAD
Preferences:
Meat industry experience
Experience managing a multi-discipline engineering group (Chemical, Mechanical, and Electrical Controls Engineers)
Willing to travel 25% of the time
