We are partnering with a fast-growing commodity trading firm that is seeking a Senior Power Trader (East) to join their expanding office in Houston. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced trader to play a critical role in driving the firm's growth in the power trading markets.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will take ownership of proprietary power and natural gas trading, focusing on Eastern Interconnect markets such as PJM, MISO, and/or Northeast regions. You will leverage your expertise in market analysis, financial product trading, and strategic deal structuring to drive profitability and maintain a competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities:
Execute proprietary trades for prompt-to-term financial power products, with a focus on markets within the PJM, MISO, NYISO, and ISO-NE regions.
Conduct comprehensive market analysis and fundamental research related to the Eastern Interconnect power and gas markets.
Collaborate with other traders and desk members to share insights and market intelligence.
Partner with Origination teams to price and manage structured deals as needed.
Work closely with Compliance, Risk, and Credit teams to ensure adherence to governance and control standards.
Qualifications:
A degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics from a leading institution.
5+ years of experience in both physical and financial power trading, with strong knowledge of the Eastern Interconnect.
Expertise in trading heat rates, locational spreads, and time spreads.
Experience with option trading is a plus.
Deep understanding of market rules, tariffs, and RTO/ISO regulations in the Eastern Interconnect.
Solid Risk Management skills and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills:
Proficiency in Python, VBA, SQL, and other programming languages.
Familiarity with data science tools such as Tableau, R, or Power BI is an advantage.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills are essential.
