The Plant Accountant is responsible for all accounting activities and the preparation of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and forecast for their assigned manufacturing facility (or facilities). This role works closely with facility leadership and Finance to promote sound controls, robust financial understanding, and value creation.
Responsibilities
Ensure accurate accounting and reporting for the plant, including the cost of production, assessing input and output costs, and fixed asset management, in collaboration with the local plant management team and corporate accounting.
Oversee the timely and accurate completion of monthly financial close activities, including inventory tracking, journal entry preparation, financial analysis, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Lead the preparation of the AOP and quarterly financial forecasts.
Prepare and support tax and audit requests.
Learn, prepare, and support accounting activities in multiple general ledger systems for our locations.
Form a deep understanding of factory operations to assist production management in identifying, analyzing, and correcting excessive losses, machine inefficiencies, and labor inefficiencies.
Establish professional relationships and collaborate cross-functionally with teams including, but not limited to, FP&A, Plant Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Product Management.
Effectively communicate complex ideas across all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
Manage tight deadlines, independently organizing and prioritizing work.
Demonstrate proven analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Demonstrate the ability to independently conduct technical accounting research and possess a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP to provide guidance as required.

Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX or Dynamics 365 a strong plus
Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Experience
Minimum three years of general accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with corporate accounting and/or public accounting is a plus.
