Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Junior Systems Engineer to join our growing IT team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Linux and Windows systems, as well as a solid understanding of basic infrastructure services. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level engineer eager to expand their knowledge and work with both physical and virtual environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain both Linux and Windows operating systems in physical and virtual environments.
Install, configure, and deliver servers and workstations, ensuring they meet required specifications.
Provide entry-level administration of essential infrastructure services including DHCP, NTP, DNS, backup, and user account setup and maintenance.
Assist in the management and maintenance of local virtual infrastructures (e.g., VMware, Proxmox, VirtualBox), with a willingness to learn and grow in this area.
Document system processes, including System Security Plans (SSPs), system requirements, and architecture.
Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system performance, security, and configuration.
Participate in routine maintenance and updates for both server and workstation environments.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in the administration of Linux and Windows operating systems.
Practical experience in installing, maintaining, and configuring servers and workstations (physical and virtual environments).
Entry-level experience with basic infrastructure services such as DHCP, NTP, DNS, backup, and user account management.
Experience or strong willingness to learn the administration of virtual infrastructure tools like VMware, Proxmox, VirtualBox, etc.
Ability to document system processes, including security plans, architecture, and technical requirements.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members.
A positive attitude and eagerness to learn new technologies and improve skill set.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with system security practices and documentation.
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) is a plus.
Education & Experience:
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Entry-level experience in a systems engineering or IT administration role is preferred.
