The Senior Director of Reinsurance Accounting will lead a team of accountants to accurately and timely interpret and account for the Company's "Specialty" Property & Casualty Business, including establishing proper controls and processes to support the ongoing growth in the US. Individual must be driven, a collaborator, complete team player and confident manager of talent.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (Accounting preferred)
Advanced knowledge of insurance accounting and reinsurance.
Advanced knowledge of reinsurance contracts with the ability to translate the contract into financial information.
Previous Management or Supervisory experience.
Experience preparing, filing and submitting Schedule F on NIAC annual statements.
Previous experience interacting with brokers, reinsurers, and other interested parties.
Strong analytic skills.
Primary Job Functions
Ensure accurate and timely compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and NAIC Guidelines (SSAP).
Liaison with external reinsurers and reinsurance brokers to ensure timely transfer of data and reports.
Prepare and analyze complex standard financial reinsurance and ad hoc reports for management.
Timely creation and reporting of reinsurance cession statements.
Interpret both new and renewal reinsurance agreements for proper recording and reporting within the reinsurance software.
Develop and manage a team of reinsurance accountants and analysts.
Manage and produce reinsurance reporting schedules for the Statutory annual statements.
Assist with internal and external audit requests.

Ability to evaluate reinsurance transactions, their structure and financial accounting implications of these transactions.
Ability to read reinsurance treaty agreements and apply concepts in the agreements to the appropriate accounting and administrative approach.
Ability to research accounting guidance and apply appropriate accounting guidance to complex reinsurance transactions and structures.
