Base Salary Range: $101,404 - $126,755


JOB SUMMARY:


Provide leadership to Company personnel and contractor resources, who's primary job function is locating natural gas facilities and inspecting 3rd party contractors. The Supervisor, in conjunction with the Department Manager, ensures that division goals are in alignment with the Company's business plan and all work tasks are completed in compliance with Company, Federal and State policies. This role is responsible to drive the Connecticut damage prevention program and is accountable for reducing the number of damages.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Education & Experience Required:


• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience or High School/GED with the completion of the relevant progression program and 10 years relevant experience required.


• Knowledge of field computers, software applications, database management, and data analysis.


• Knowledge of gas operations, construction, procedures, safety manual, emergency response, procedures, and instrumentation.


• Knowledge of construction maps and drawings.


Skills/Abilities:


• Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved in field operations activities is preferred.


• Knowledge of industry codes including: 49 CFR Part 192, Connecticut General Statute Chapter 293 Section 16-345, and OSHA.


• Must have or possess the ability to develop a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management, financial reporting, and performance tracking of the designated area.


• Ability to multi-task, delegate to others and respond effectively to high level stress situations.


• Excellent interpersonal, team building and demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop personnel.


• Strong oral and written communications skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express and exchange ideas and to effectively conduct presentations.


• Knowledgeable about the products, market conditions, competitive activities, and promotional trends in the natural gas industry.


• Must have strong analytical skills, the ability to form valuable conclusions and recommendations, and effectively manage and present data through a proficient use of MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.


• Must possess strong Self-Management skills; works well with minimal supervision, manages own time effectively, maintains control over all current projects/responsibilities, follows up on all relevant issues.


MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


• Responsible for scheduling, applying, and overseeing the Damage Prevention Program to ensure protection against contractors damaging gas facilities.


• Supervises a workforce of internal underground locators and markout inspectors through performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.


• Ensures supervised teams comply with safety standards, policies, and processes to warrant a safe working environment.


• Oversees the operational workload of teams to confirm allocated resources are fully utilized to deliver against agreed upon work plan and tracking metrics.


• Works with internal mark out technicians and mark out inspectors to ensure accurate mark outs.


• Reports to and investigates excavation damages and assists with data collection used for regulatory reporting of damage and compliance performance metrics.


• May investigate and coordinate resolution of mapping issues between field operations and technical services when needed.


• Monitors accuracy of Gas Records for auditing purposes and ensure compliance.


• Reviews and tracks Blasting tickets and Cast Iron Encroachment tickets, notifies proper departments as to the need of special monitoring of blasting activity per Company Operating Policy and Standards.


• Runs reports from the ticket management system to update, maintain, review, and ensure the completion of high-quality documentation of 3rd party inspections and mark out completion forms by field personnel.


• Assists senior supervisor in leading monthly safety and performance meetings with Damage Prevention team.


• Promotes an internal safety culture through educational awareness and a public awareness program.


• Represent the Company during contacts with landowner/tenants, public officials, and emergency officials at local meetings.


• Responsible to review & assist in the development of policies/procedures associated to Damage Prevention.


• Trains Company, second party, and third party personnel as required.


• Interfaces with and supports multiple departments within Company gas operations. Provides operational assistance to divisional leadership and assists with resource sharing opportunities.


• Coordinates with Operations Supervisors to ensure damage prevention procedures and initiatives are in compliance.


• Ensures that the CBYD Excavator Manual and the PURA Excavation Near Underground Utility Facilities Regulation is adhered to by third party contractors and company construction crews. May interact with regulatory agencies, local municipalities, industry organizations, and third-party contractors to solve problems/concerns and ensure compliance.


• Provides supervisory coverage for out of area damage prevention programs as needed.


• Must be available for response after hours for work storms, emergencies, and critical assignments.


• Participate in the on-call supervisor rotation.


• Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history.


• Flexibility in state coverage is essential.


• Other Damage Prevention Supervisor duties as assigned.


NOTE:


This is a DOT safety-sensitive position. Any applicant transferring into this department from a non-safety-sensitive position will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen. This position requires a current driver's license.
