Electrical Engineer / Embedded Electrical Engineer required to join an exciting defense start up manufacturer based in Austin, TX

The successful Electrical Engineer / Embedded Electrical Engineer will ideally have a Masters/PhD in a relevant discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science etc

Electrical Engineer / Embedded Electrical Engineer Responsibilities
  • Generate detailed electrical schematics and PCB designs that meet the performance and durability standards for defense systems, including embedded and power circuitry.
  • Build and implement embedded software in C++ and Python, emphasizing real-time responsiveness and efficiency for autonomous defense applications.
  • Oversee the development of high-quality printed circuit boards, adhering to best practices for layout, signal integrity, power distribution, and EMC, in line with military standards.
  • Conduct extensive testing, simulation, and debugging in both lab and field conditions, resolving issues and optimizing electronics and software for real-world scenarios.
  • Produce and maintain thorough documentation for designs, including schematics, PCB layouts, simulation data, and test procedures.

Electrical Engineer / Embedded Electrical Engineer Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree / Masters in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years experience in a previous position such as Electrical Engineer / Embedded Electrical Engineer
  • Expertise in designing microcontroller-based control systems, including power conversion circuits and motor drive solutions.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python: Extensive experience in C++ for embedded systems
  • Advanced proficiency with electrical design and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, and Eagle.
  • Skilled in using simulation software (e.g., SPICE, ANSYS Electronics) to assess circuit behavior under varying environmental and operational conditions.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing embedded software, particularly for real-time, safety-critical systems in industries such as robotics and defense.
  • Commutable or willing to relocate to Austin, TX
