Title: Mechanical Engineer (Battery System)
Location: Tucson, AZ (Onsite)
Employment Type: Fulltime Permanent with AXISCADES.
Position Overview
As a Battery Systems Designer, you will collaborate with a team of engineers to troubleshoot battery component and system issues, perform teardown and rework of batteries, and review detailed battery test data to make design recommendations. You will be an experienced contributor on complex assignments, working with teams across the US.
Job Responsibilities
Develop battery design components and systems to meet customer needs and enhance safety, quality, velocity, and cost.
Troubleshoot battery component and system issues in various battery labs and multiple proving grounds.
Safely tear down, inspect, and develop reports on battery components and systems.
Collaborate with other designers to rework prototype batteries.
Provide onsite engineering build support for prototype battery builds.
Analyze battery test data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations.
Education & Experience Required
Mechanical or Electrical Engineers with hands-on experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years of experience required.
Masters/PhD degrees could allow for 3+ years of experience.
Technical Skills Required
Proficient with CAD tools.
Ability to read prints and electrical schematics.
Document issues and assist in identifying root cause.
Previous product development experience (design, validation/test, or analysis).
Technical Skills Desired
Previous design or test experience related to battery system development.
Previous design or test experience with off-road equipment.
Soft Skills
Safely work with battery systems.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to clearly understand and document tasks, findings, and issues through verbal and written communications.
Ability to creatively solve problems with minimal direction from work director.
