We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Process Engineer to join our midstream client. The ideal candidate will have experience with hydrocracking, dehydration processes, and pressure relief valve (PRV) systems. As an Operations Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of key processes within the hydrocarbon processing facilities. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimize processes, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements. The role will initially be a contract hourly rate circa $75ph and could lead to a permanent position. This role would require being located in Longview with travel to sites, company car is included with the contract.
Operations Process Engineer Responsibilities:
Hydrocracking Process Optimization:
Support the daily operation and optimization of the hydrocracking unit to ensure maximum throughput, product quality, and efficiency.
Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to feedstock quality, reactor performance, and catalyst activity.
Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to implement process improvements, debottlenecking initiatives, and cost-reduction strategies.
Dehydration System Oversight:
Monitor and optimize the dehydration units to maintain the required specifications for water content in the hydrocarbon stream.
Investigate and resolve any issues related to dehydration efficiency, including managing solvent regeneration and identifying opportunities to reduce operational costs.
Develop and implement procedures for maintaining and improving dehydration system performance.
Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) Systems:
Oversee the operation and maintenance of pressure relief valves in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Conduct regular PRV testing and ensure correct sizing, installation, and function of valves throughout the plant.
Collaborate with safety and engineering teams to address potential PRV malfunctions and implement preventive measures.
Process Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Utilize process data and control systems to monitor equipment performance and identify process deviations.
Provide real-time support for troubleshooting operational issues, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
Lead or participate in root cause failure analyses and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field. Master's degree or professional certification is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years experience in operations process engineering, with a strong focus on hydrocracking, dehydration, and pressure relief valves in the oil and gas or midstream industry.
Hands-on experience with process monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization in a plant or refinery environment.
Knowledge of industry standards (API, ASME, ASTM) and regulatory requirements.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of hydrocracking, dehydration, and pressure relief valve systems.
Experience with Amine Gas Treating and Glycol dehydration a bonus
Expertise in process control, optimization, and troubleshooting techniques.
Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar) and data analysis tools.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks effectively.
