FPA is currently searching for a full-time Staff Engineer - Bridges for our Boston,Massachusetts office. The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in Bridge design engineering. Their expertise and innovative thinking will be instrumental in helping us develop solutions that are sustainable, efficient, and effective.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design of bridges, including structural analysis, load calculations, and the development of detailed plans and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
Perform structural analysis and simulations to assess the performance of bridge components, including superstructures, substructures, foundations, and supports.
Collaborate with the design team to produce construction drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other design software.
Assist in the preparation of reports, design calculations, and technical documentation for clients, permitting agencies, and regulatory authorities.
Participate in site visits to review design feasibility, assist with bridge inspections, and collect data for design analysis.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineers) to ensure that the bridge design integrates with other aspects of the overall project.
Support senior engineers with project management tasks, including tracking project schedules, budgets, and project deliverables.
Ensure that all design and engineering work adheres to applicable codes, standards (AASHTO, local DOT specifications, etc.), and best practices for safety and quality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
Strong academic background in structural design, materials science, and mechanics of materials.
Familiarity with bridge design codes and standards (AASHTO, local DOT specifications, etc.) is a plus.
Proficiency in design and drafting software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar).
Basic knowledge of structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD, or similar) is preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills, with an analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Motivated to learn and grow in the field of bridge design and engineering.
Willingness to travel for site visits and inspections as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Intern or co-op experience in civil or structural engineering, particularly with bridge design or infrastructure projects.
Master's degree in Structural Engineering
Familiarity with modeling software for bridge analysis and design (e.g., RISA, CSI Bridge, etc.).
EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification and the intent to pursue PE licensure.
