Job Description:

Job Description: Senseeker is looking for an embedded systems leader to build a group of cutting-edge professionals to pursue software, firmware and electronics solutions and enhancements for our image sensing products. This position will be responsible for understanding and contributing to the company's broader embedded systems and software strategy and then implementing that strategy through team and technology growth. We are looking for someone who can drive innovation in embedded systems and software here at Senseeker and is excited to build a state-of-the-art technology portfolio with us. We are a small but growing team and so you will need to contribute to the design and development activities as well at first and then transition into a broader range of management activities as we staff the team. You will be involved in proposal activities with business development and help us develop the best solutions for our customers and products. You will need to collaborate extensively with our test group, integrated circuit design group, mechanical engineering group, products control and the program management team. You will also need to collaborate with our system-on-module (SoM) vendors and electronics subcontractors. This is a new position at the company and you will be reporting to the CEO - as such you will have significant influence on company direction and strategy. You should be comfortable working in a relaxed yet professional small business environment in collaboration with a highly capable team.

Work Experience: 7 years required, 10+ years preferred with at least 2 years of management experience

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering

Preferred Education: Master's degree in Engineering or Management

Job Responsibilities
  • Understand Senseeker digital readout integrated circuits (DROICs) for optimized knowledgeable design of associated interface electronics, firmware and software
  • Understand existing Senseeker software systems and develop plans to maintain and improve these systems into the future
  • Collaborate with SoM and firmware suppliers to ensure Senseeker's systems are elegant and robust and the business relationships are solid and healthy
  • Manage engineering suppliers and subcontractors directly contributing to our software and embedded systems
  • Continually work to improve our electronics by developing plans and proposing directions of development in line with the latest embedded systems technology available
  • Keep the executive team updated on progress, problems and novel ideas associated with your group
  • Participate in customer presentations and contribute to reports as needed
  • Own the board-level analog components and properties such as signal distribution, matching, cross-talk and analog component wrappers
  • Work closely with subcontractors to manage outsourced board layouts and activities as well as help set Senseeker outsourcing strategies for electronics
  • Provide management oversight and infrastructure for your team and do your best to give your team the support they need when they need it

Required Attributes:
  • US Person status required, pursuant to the terms of government contracts with Senseeker*
  • Demonstrated skill in successfully managing technical teams
  • Strong familiarity with computer engineering activities from hardware to firmware to software and the management of associated professionals executing those functions
  • Strong familiarity with electronics design and development
  • Understanding of Verilog and/or VHDL and experience with associated digital data flow systems
  • Highly organized with a drive to build new and better processes for a fledgling group
  • High individual-contributor proficiency in at least one of the aspects of embedded systems (electronics, firmware or associated software)

Desired Attributes:
  • Familiarity with government contracting environment
  • Familiarity with the image sensing industry, preferably infrared sensing
  • Ability to interface with Enterprise Resource Planning tools
  • A systemizer personality who relishes creating people-friendly systems and processes for getting things done in an organized fashion

Job Type and Location: Full-time, onsite with some hybrid OK, in Santa Barbara, CA, USA

Base Salary Range: $160k to $240k per year, set with experience, education and qualifications
